Bill Trappes was a fantastic clubman for Northern Suburbs over many years. Bill was introduced to the club around 1965 by Ted West and was actively involved in club activities for 20 years. A painter by trade, Bill was easily recognised as he always wore a collar and tie, waistcoat and a jacket to athletic events regardless of the weather. He was chief judge for long jumps and triple jumps, fulfilling this valuable role for many years. Bill supported athletes in many ways and was always available to give someone a lift or provide transport to events held around Tasmania.
Although unobtrusive and efficient, Bill would often quietly encourage the Northern Suburbs Athletes as they competed. “I think you might have done a good one there son” he would say.
