Invitation to Join the Northern Suburbs Athletic Club
On behalf of the Northern Suburbs Athletic Club I would like to invite you to join us for the 2018-19 Track & Field season. Please find attached a brief flyer which provides further information about our club.
Our club is now over 55 years old, having been established in 1962. Although we are based in the northern suburbs of Hobart, we have members from all areas of southern Tasmania. There is no expectation that you need to live in a particular suburb to join us.
We pride ourselves as being an inclusive club and welcome athletes of all ages and abilities. Both the Track and Field and the Cross Country competition are structured so athletes can participate and achieve goals regardless of performance level.
We have younger athletes such as Jack Hale, Jacob Nolan and Meriem Daoui who have medalled at a national level. Senior competitors such as Mick Stevenson and Alan Coleman have also an outstanding record in Masters Athletics at a national and international level. Grant Page is an outstanding local athlete with a great record both on the track and in fun runs.
Conscious of the importance of coaches to nurture younger athletes, we appointed Ken Atkinson as Coaching Co-ordinator in 2017. Ken provides a pathway for athletes to develop their skills and get the most enjoyment from athletics. There are a variety of club coaches that Ken can refer you to including the following NSAC members:
Our Captains Brad Sansom, Emily Best, David Cresswell and Ambrosia Negri are important leaders in our club and provide excellent support to new members, particularly youngsters who may be transitioning from Little Athletics competition.
We also provide travel subsidies to younger athletes who are selected to represent Tasmania in national competition.
I hope you find this information useful. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask either Ken (Phone 0107 877 165) or myself (Phone 0421 041 952).
